Once an injured worker is classified permanently and totally disabled, or the work-related injury results in death, the benefit checks continue indefinitely. They may go to the injured worker or his surviving spouse. In many states, the carrier paying these benefits has an obligation to insure that the recipient of those benefits is still alive and receiving what’s due him or her. This confirmation often requires in-person visits, often known in the industry as Wellness Visits or Alive-and-Well Checks. The R&D Agency has well-established protocol for in-person visits to update records, confirm the benefit checks are going to the proper person, document any changes in medications or identify any scheduled procedures. Completing these visits effectively allows our clients with needed information to keep making these payments.
