By the time an event becomes litigated and in the hands of counsel, the scene of the accident or incident has often changed considerably. If no proper scene investigation was performed in a timely manner, steps must be taken to seek out information as it existed at the time of the incident. This may involve interviewing and examining the investigative findings of law enforcement personnel, locating historical footage or photographs taken at the time the incident was occurring, reviewing documented changes to the scene, or assembling a diagram of the scene based on witness interviews or other evidence. The R&D Agency’s investigators specialize at thinking outside the box, which is essential in many investigations we undertake.
